The self improvement category has quite a bit of controversy surrounding it. It has exploded in growth over the last 30 years, and because of that people started to view it as a long lasting fad… Self Improvement is about the improvement of one’s knowledge, status, or character by one’s own efforts. Humans by nature want to improve and better themselves. I don’t think this “fad” is going to end — especially with our abilities in the modern age to access new information as we please.
I’m personally a big fan of self improvement material. I find great value and understanding in the books, and the many great quotes that come from them. Below are 9 self improvement quotes from some of histories finest that can inspire you:
“Let him who would move the world first move himself.”
“All our knowledge has its origin in our perceptions.”
― Leonardo da Vinci
“As human beings, our greatness lies not so much in being able to remake the world – that is the myth of the atomic age – as in being able to remake ourselves.”
― Mahatma Gandhi
“There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self.”
― Ernest Hemingway
“A proud man is always looking down on things and people; and, of course, as long as you are looking down, you cannot see something that is above you.”
― C.S. Lewis
“For the best return on your money, pour your purse into your head.”
― Benjamin Franklin
“Formal education will make you a living; self-education will make you a fortune.”
― Jim Rohn
“Once we accept our limits, we go beyond them.”
― Albert Einstein
“Those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.”
― George Bernard Shaw
I don’t know about you, but I absolutely love quotes… A group of words that can evoke a series of powerful thoughts, different perspective, and understanding. I find incredible value in the quotes listed above, and I hope that you do too.
Self-improvement tip: Focus on improving yourself by 1% everyday — go to bed a little smarter than when you woke up (Charlie Munger). By doing this you’ll develop an extremely powerful habit that will benefit you immensely over the course of your entire life.
